Privacy Policy

This notice explains how Animelier collects and uses personal information when you visit our website, contact us or order a personalised pet portrait.

Who we are

For privacy questions, contact us at contact@animelier.com.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use the service, we may collect:

  • identity and contact details, including your name, email, delivery and billing details;
  • order, payment status and customer-support records;
  • the photograph you upload, your pet's name where supplied, portrait preferences and adjustment request;
  • generated portrait candidates, your private proof, approval decision and final artwork;
  • technical and security information such as device, browser, IP address, timestamps and fraud-prevention signals; and
  • cookie and analytics information, where the relevant technology is enabled and consent is required.

Please do not upload a photograph you are not entitled to use. Avoid photographs containing identifiable people or unnecessary personal information where possible.

Why we use it and our lawful bases

We process order, photograph, proof and delivery information because it is necessary to perform our contract with you. We keep accounting and transaction records to comply with legal obligations. We may use limited service, security and support information for our legitimate interests in operating, protecting and improving the service, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights. Marketing uses consent where required and is not part of the portrait-production permission.

Automated image processing

Your uploaded photograph is processed with automated tools to create the commissioned portrait, check that identifying characteristics have been preserved and prepare a private proof. You remain in control through proof review and may request the included simple adjustment or contact us for human support. We do not use this process to make a solely automated decision about you that has legal or similarly significant effects.

Who receives information

We use Shopify to run our store and checkout, our UK print partner to produce and deliver your portrait, payment providers selected at checkout, and carefully selected service providers to host files, send email and help create artwork. They process your data only as needed to provide their service to us.

We do not sell uploaded photographs or use them in advertising, a portfolio or social media without your separate, specific permission.

International transfers

Some of our providers are based outside the UK, including in the United States. Where this happens, we rely on the UK–US data bridge or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to protect your data.

How long we keep information

We keep order records for 6 years to meet tax and accounting obligations. We delete your original photograph and unused proofs 90 days after your portrait is delivered, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.

Security

Customer image files are stored privately with access controls. Proof access is restricted by a secure link. No internet service is risk-free, but we apply proportionate technical and organisational safeguards and limit operational access.

Your rights

Under UK data-protection law you have rights to be informed, access your information, correct it, request erasure or restriction, object to certain processing and receive eligible information in a portable form. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time. Some rights are subject to legal exceptions, including records we must retain.

To exercise a right or raise a concern, contact us at contact@animelier.com. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/.

Cookies and third-party links

Necessary cookies support the storefront and checkout. Non-essential analytics or advertising technologies are only used with the consent required by UK law. Third-party sites have their own privacy notices.

Changes

We may update this notice to reflect operational or legal changes. The current version will always appear on this page.
